Rooms Named

Image
We got around to naming the rooms.  Yes. It's pretty silly.  But we are too.  I think it will make it easier for everyone to claim their favorite room or know where to unpack their stuff.  Also if anyone notices any changes or updates that we might need to make, this helps out also.  So here they are. The Eagle's Nest (The Master Bedroom) The Sunrise Room The Sunset Room The Roost (The Upstairs King Bed Side) The Bunkroom (The Upstairs Bunk Bed Side) 🏡 The Sunrise Room The Sunset Room & The Bathroom (haha) I will post photos of the other 3 later. What do you think?  Let us know and hope to see you soon.

Porch Steps Fixed

Image
We put in some much-needed additional railing on the back porch.  Now we just need to stain it.  I might even put a little gate on there too. I got the fence repaired again.  This seems to be a never ending job.  I am probably going to have to drop the hammer and replace a lot of these boards. But the price of lumber is outrageous. What you are looking at here is a wonky angle photo of the new heater unit installed in the master bathroom.  It still has the tape around it, because we had to touch up the paint on the ceiling. Put up 3 new smoke detectors. Installed a carbon monoxide detector.  Pretty useless because everything in the house is electric.  But the short term rental websites require one. So we have one. Got a ring toss game for the porch.  Now I just need to put it up. I converted some unused space above to microwave into additional cabinet space.  ...

New Art & Upstairs Update

Image
We got some of the art hung that we both received and got ourselves for Christmas.  I think these metal fish are pretty unique. The captains wheel below is one that my dad rescued from Minnesota.  Supposedly it came off an old barge that used to traverse the Mississippi River with goods.  He fixed it up and refinished it and I think it's a really neat piece, especially with the history and all. This one below, needs some better lighting for one thing.  I will take a better photo next weekend.  They are 2 old (1930s) fishing poles from the Original Chilcottage up in Minnesota.  See the HISTORY page for more info on that.  I want to supplement this with some neat fishing lures.  More on that to come. More decorations up in the bunkbed area upstairs.  Now I just need to hide that power cable on that tv. Some neat wood cut-out picture of sailboats that my dad and his new wife gave is for Christmas. I will take closer, better pictures on th...

Dock Update

Image
The new metal posts and handrails for the dock are now all in and painted. It looks much better now.  And it is now safe and sound too. Onto the the next step.  A deep power washing and some new staining on the entire dock.  The going is slow, expecially with this cold weather but its coming along. And once again another beautiful sunset out here.  I will never tire of seeing these. Remember reservations are now open for 2024 on airbnb. www.airbnb.com/h/chilcottage And we look forward to seeing you soon!
