Remember the last post about the new dock furniture?  Well we had some strong storms come thru a few weeks ago, and suddenly the furniture was no longer there.  Oops.  So.....me and my oldest child decided to try to go fishing for them and we found them, blown off the dock, into the water, and covered with mud.  We got them cleaned up again, and long story short, there is now only dock furniture on the 2nd floor of the dock.  The furniture there is protected from blowing off by the railing along the top.  Please do not move any of the furniture to the lower level as it will blow off in a storm and if it is damaged, guests will be charged.  Hopefully sometime soon, we will try to get some concrete benches are something heavier that can be used on the lower level of the dock.  Live & Learn.

We got some new furniture for the dock and the front porch.  Here is the dock furniture. Phone Chargers? Yes. Phone Chargers. Seems silly but I think it's the little things that make a big difference.  We stayed at another short-term rental and they had convenient charging stations on all the nightstands in the bedrooms.  We get so many ideas from just staying at other places.  So we upped our game too.  Ta-Da!!! Hey YA’LL! It's been a year now, and it’s oficially STAT-urday. STATISTICs Saturday. These are the numbers for our first year doing this rental thing.  We started back OFICIALLY (meaning not just family and friends, but publicly) in March 2024.  Anyways here are the numbers, trivia, factoids, and maths on our STR (short-term rental) and websites.  REMEMBER...you have to call it a STR now because AIRBNB is like calling tissue, Kleenex.  Because we are now listed on many more rental websites. We are no longer an airbnb but a STR. whatever. anyway.  So now. On with the FUN. This is now officially 1 year in.  We started renting out to the public in March of 2024. VISITORS So far......Our furthest visitors have been from England & India.    Bath, England Go Bath Rugby!   and Vellore Tamil Nadu India Olympic champions!  W e have also had guests from over  13  different states here in the U.S. Including Texas is maybe cheating, b...

We got three more kayaks for our guests to enjoy. Another tandem and 2 singles. That makes for a total of 5 (3 Tandems and the 2 Singles) Next, we need to get a hold of one or two kids kayaks. The Chilcottage is a great place to spend the holidays.  Just think about it.   Here is our: Top 10 list for staying at the Lake Tawakoni Chilcottage You have room to sleep the whole family.  Our house sleeps 12.  And It's close to DFW. Huge kitchen with open floor plan connecting it to the living room.  You can be cooking and still not miss out on any "Dad" jokes or fun stories.  Plenty of games and fun activities are provided. Puzzles, Board Games, Cards, Dice, Ladder Golf, Cornhole, and on and on. Firepit for roasting marshmallows. Fishing. Kayaks Included for early morning workouts. Power charging for the electric cars of the annoying relatives with one. Morning coffee on the enclosed back porch overlooking the lake. Evening drinks with beautiful sunsets over the lake. IMPORTANT - No laundry to do after they leave. THE BEST - You don't have to actually clean your own home before anyone comes over - our lakehouse is always clean.
