New Kitchen Table

Image
Our kitchen table finally came in.  We think it matches nicely with the feel of the room.  These are not the chairs that go with this table.  This is just a hodge podge of chairs that we were given from an open storage unit liquidation down here.  I said we need some chairs.  The owner said, We have chairs, but if you want them you have to take them all.  So I now have a bunch of mismatched wooden chairs.  5 or 6 need repair.  Let me know if you are in need of any chairs. haha. We are going to find a nice bench to go against the wall.  And hopefully and eventually the kitchen countertops will also be this butcher block type.  Well back to work.  Take care and we will see you soon.

Goodbye Popcorn Ceilings

Image
The last of the popcorn ceilings are finally gone.  Yuck!  The stairway ceiling was the last place in the house that had that nasty acoustic ceiling texturing.  This house has been way more work than we anticipated.  We are both really happy with how it turned out. Let us know what you thing in the comments section or drop us a line. You know the email.  Well Back to work!  See ya'll soon!

New Curtain Rods & Curtains

Image
We put up the new curtain rods and curtains in the master bedroom and are quite pleased with them. They really dress up the room and they are blackout curtains. They are perfect to darken the room for an afternoon nap after being out on the water all day. We also got the curtain rods up in one of the guest bedrooms, but we haven't quite figured out the new curtains yet.  In these pictures are the old curtains. Well back to work. See ya soon!

276 Quinlan Bypass

Image
So TXDOT (Texas Department of Transportation) is creating a Quinlan bypass. It kinda sucks for all the old main street businesses (can anyone say Pixar's Cars?) but it will really allieviate some horrible traffic thru town and on highway 34 also. And bonus for us. It will shave 10 minutes off the commute time from dfw. So. I am probably guessing that the completion date might be a bit off judging as how it has already passed, but I think that my guess would be, probably completed before the end of the year. Well back to work.  See ya soon.

Little Mule

Image
One of our super cool neighbors out here just gave us a golf cart, totally free.  We are going to call it Little Mule. It's going to need a little fixing up, but nothing super major.  And someone is super excited to drive it already.  Yep. It's me!!! haha. ----------- Here's the new entry way table. It's coming together nicely. ----------------------- Here's the new BBQ grill. Thank you Grandma and Papa. ------------------ And our lawn looks pretty good with a cut.  Thanks Rick. Back to work.  See ya next week!

Better Views

Image
The neighbors next door cut down a few trees. Now I am sad to see those trees go, but not too sad. They just doubled our view of the lake.  We have started adding some curtains. And continued the door projects this week still. Back to work. See ya next week.

Updates from this weekend

Image
So, the doors turned out pretty good.  Let me know what you think in the comments section. We got the big ugly medicine cabinets removed from both the bathrooms, popcorn ceiling removed, textured, and painted. And here is the new entryway table and decorations.

Door Project

Image
I have started a new project to fancy up all the doors in the house.  I got the idea for this project on.......you guessed it......youtube. Home Depot, you are taking all our money aren't you? Another day, another trip to the hardware store. And another spectacular sunset from our backyard.

New Target Date - January 2023

Image
Our new target date to have our Chilcottage available to be rented out on AIRBNB is now January 2023.  We have been making slow progress with mainly Chelsea and I doing all the work.  It's been really tough and the kids have been super bored, but we want it to be great, not only us but for everyone to enjoy.  And they say slow and steady wins the race.  Anyways, there have been a ton of updates recently.  We have the two bunkbeds upstairs now for the kids.  Most of the bedrooms are now complete.  We are still working to update the bathrooms and kitchens.  And we got most of the painting done in the closets.  Also I got a chance to use my new WARRIOR 10 Inch 15 AMP Table Saw from Harbor Freight.  I have to say, for only $150, it was way better than I ever expected.  Here are some of the most recent photos. We have the new sofa too.  But all the photos with it looked kinda junky as we still have lots of buildfing material, paint ...

July 4th

Image
July 4th So sorry for not posting for a bit.  Chelsea and I spent about 3 weeks over in Europe for our 10th Anniversary and visiting family over there.   Here are a couple of pics. For more pics from out trip to New York, Ireland, France, and England, visit our facebook pages. So as you can probably guess by the date, we have missed our intended target date of having the lake house ready for rental by the July 4th holiday. That's ok.  We got to spend the time here with friends and family and got to show off all the great progress we have made so far. We had tons of excellent food and shot off fireworks from the dock.  The kids went nuts and had a blast.  And from the top of our 2 story dock you can see all the other individual and town celebrations going off all around the lake.  It was wonderful.  Here are some photos to share.
