Better Views

Image
The neighbors next door cut down a few trees. Now I am sad to see those trees go, but not too sad. They just doubled our view of the lake.  We have started adding some curtains. And continued the door projects this week still. Back to work. See ya next week.

Updates from this weekend

Image
So, the doors turned out pretty good.  Let me know what you think in the comments section. We got the big ugly medicine cabinets removed from both the bathrooms, popcorn ceiling removed, textured, and painted. And here is the new entryway table and decorations.

Door Project

Image
I have started a new project to fancy up all the doors in the house.  I got the idea for this project on.......you guessed it......youtube. Home Depot, you are taking all our money aren't you? Another day, another trip to the hardware store. And another spectacular sunset from our backyard.

New Target Date - January 2023

Image
Our new target date to have our Chilcottage available to be rented out on AIRBNB is now January 2023.  We have been making slow progress with mainly Chelsea and I doing all the work.  It's been really tough and the kids have been super bored, but we want it to be great, not only us but for everyone to enjoy.  And they say slow and steady wins the race.  Anyways, there have been a ton of updates recently.  We have the two bunkbeds upstairs now for the kids.  Most of the bedrooms are now complete.  We are still working to update the bathrooms and kitchens.  And we got most of the painting done in the closets.  Also I got a chance to use my new WARRIOR 10 Inch 15 AMP Table Saw from Harbor Freight.  I have to say, for only $150, it was way better than I ever expected.  Here are some of the most recent photos. We have the new sofa too.  But all the photos with it looked kinda junky as we still have lots of buildfing material, paint ...

July 4th

Image
July 4th So sorry for not posting for a bit.  Chelsea and I spent about 3 weeks over in Europe for our 10th Anniversary and visiting family over there.   Here are a couple of pics. For more pics from out trip to New York, Ireland, France, and England, visit our facebook pages. So as you can probably guess by the date, we have missed our intended target date of having the lake house ready for rental by the July 4th holiday. That's ok.  We got to spend the time here with friends and family and got to show off all the great progress we have made so far. We had tons of excellent food and shot off fireworks from the dock.  The kids went nuts and had a blast.  And from the top of our 2 story dock you can see all the other individual and town celebrations going off all around the lake.  It was wonderful.  Here are some photos to share.

First Fishes & More Eagles

Image
We went fishing off the dock this weekend with a neighbor.  It only took a few minutes until we caught several big catfish.  It was the first time fishing for the kids.  They were so excited.  Colton, Ellery, and even Delanay all caught some big ones.  Blue Catfish and Channel Catfish, and some Carp ranging in size from about 1 foot long to 3 foot long.  It was surprising. And we saw another bald eagle. Oh and we did more painting.  Almost all the ceilings done downstairs.  And our lake house now sleeps 10.  It's been slow but we are getting there.  I will post some bedroom photos later.

Water Leak Fixed

Image
Had a plumber come out and take a look at our massive water leak under the bathtub.  If you live around Lake Tawakoni and have a water leak or plumbing issue, call K & K Plumbing.  903-527-3696 https://krodleplumbing.com/  They were fast, honest, and affordable.  I highly recommend them. We got some new living room furniture for the place and got some of it moved down and into the house. We made some more progress in the downstairs bedrooms too.

Laundry Day

Image
We can finally do laundry at the house and once we get it all spruced up, so can you.  We now have a washer and dryer that we can use at the lakehouse.  I wanted to thank both Uncle Tommy and Andrew Schutz for helping us out with this.  You guys are awesome.  Can't wait to have ya'll over to see the place and spend some time there.

Bald Eagles

Image
The neighbors around here had said that there were lots of bald eagles around the lake.  I didn't really believe them until this weekend.  There was a giant bird shadow trailing across the lawn, I look up and sure enough, a giant bald eagle flying directly over our house.  This isn't my picture.  I wasn't fast enough to grab my phone. Anyways.  This weekend we got the texturing in the downstairs bedrooms finished and some beds set up.  Now the kids don't have to sleep on blow up mattresses and we can have family down to stay the night too. We almost finished priming the living room.  Next up is painting the living room ceiling, priming and painting the downstairs bedroom ceilings. Fun. Fun. Fun.  And we added the new smart locks to the place We went with the Ultraloq.  I will give you feedback on it after we have used it more.  So far I like it, and installation and setup was really simple.

Ceiling Texturing

Image
Here's a run down of what we got done this past weekend.  1) Ceiling texture.  Now that the popcorn ceilings are down, it's time to pretty them up.  Work was started this weekend and should finish up the next.  2) Updated the thermostats.  3) Continued painting the living room. Walls are all done.  We still need to continue priming the ceiling.   More pictures of this next week.
